Pronounced ‘Sue-Bee-Toe,’ this classically delicious ‘takeaway’ restaurant is just steps away from the Cultural Trail in the Whole Sale District just off Virginia Avenue. The food is made from scratch each day and comes from a variety of locally owned small businesses throughout Indiana, including places like Smoking Goose Meatery and My Dad’s Sweet Corn (a staple in Indiana). Locally owned and operated is Soupremacy, where they love good soups and salads, and everything is made with the freshest of ingredients. They have up to 12 different soups made daily, and over 100 soups which rotate during the seasons. They offer gluten free, vegan and vegetarian soups, and all soups come with Amelia’s bread or crackers. If you’re feeling particularly hungry (or cold), try their generous 16 ounce Big Bowl of soup!

Shapiro’s Deli, Indianapolis, IN

100 years of Jewish tradition! Original owners Louis and Rebecca emigrated from Russia to Indianapolis in 1903, and two years later they opened up Shapiro’s Deli just south of downtown Indianapolis. All of their ingredients are locally sourced and homemade, including their Chicken Broth, also known as Jewish Penicillin for all that ails you which customers swear by! They also have a marketplace within the restaurant where you can purchase your meats and other goodies!

Zoup! Eatery, Carmel, IN

Love in ever ladle is the motto of Zoup! Eatery in beautiful Carmel, Indiana! The first Zoup! Eatery opened in 1998 in Southfield, Michigan and since then they’ve expanded into over a dozen other locations, including four here in Indiana. Unlike most soup restaurants, Zoup encourage their customers to sample the soup(s) of their choice before ordering. If you’re feeling a little spicy, try the Cajun Chicken and Sausage Gumbo soup or the Fire Roasted Tomato Bisque.
